Mt. Doubt is the project of Edinburgh-based musician Leo Bargery. As a one man project, he released his debut album My Past Is A Quiet Beast last year, which received radio airplay on Amazing Radio, Xfm, KEXP, and BBC Radio Scotland. The album saw him gain praise from The Herald, The National and be tipped as one of Vic Galloway‘s 25 Scottish Artists to Watch in 2016.
I played a couple of tracks from that album recently on our podcast and it genuinely made me thirsty for some more material which has now surfaced via new single, “Afterglow”.
Afterglow has deep and rich vocals and a pulsating beat that drives this radio friendly pop song along. And, pilgrims, rest assured “pop” is not a dirty word. This is an infectious uptempo track with sombre undertones that is one of the stand out tracks of the year so far.
I’ve heard Mr. Bargery assembles quite a band and outs on an impressive live show so I am really looking forward to finally seeing them live at this year’s XpoNorth festival in Inverness.
Paired with b-side Hotel Key, the single is available on 7” vinyl via the awesome Scottish Fiction.
Afterglow is a taster for Mt. Doubt’s forthcoming second album, In Awe Of Nothing which will be released on June 17th.
Afterglow is available on on 7″ vinyl or by digital download here.
