We are delighted once again to be teaming up with Michael Cassidy and The Market Bar in Inverness for what we fully expect to be another wonderful night.
It was back in March 2016 that we staged our first gig at The Market Bar in Inverness with Michael Cassidy and Dr. Wook on the bill and it was such a brilliant night. Even on a Tuesday night plenty of people turned up and walked away with smiles on their wee faces.
So, fast forward to Thursday 3rd of November and we return to The Marker Bar in Inverness with Michael and up and coming singer-songwriter, Michiel Turner.
Michael Cassidy is a singer songwriter from Paisley whose music is best described as contemporary folk/pop. As the inaugural winner of the Gerry Rafferty Songwriting Award, he has traveled the length and breadth of the UK supporting established acts such as Ben Howard, Frightened Rabbit, Amy MacDonald, Stornoway, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Martha Wainwright and John Grant as well as being invited to North America to play at the CMW and NXNE festivals.
Last year saw Michael play various dates across the UK including a co-headline show in London with Siobhan Wilson, a sold-out full band headline show in Tynemouth, a sold‐out collaborative show with Justin Currie, Eddi Reader, Dougie Maclean and Emma Pollock at Paisley Town Hall plus various supports with the likes of Karima Francis and Ben Ottewell to name but a few.
2016 began with a run of shows at Celtic Connections, including a performance at the legendary Festival Club, followed by a UK tour supporting Eliza and the Bear before a sold-out headline show at Folkets Hus in Struer, Denmark where he performed a bunch of new material with his band including the track, ‘You’re Gone’, which he debuted live on STV Glasgow‘s The Riverside Show.
Having released his debut album ‘My Electric Heart’ in 2015 with a sold out Glasgow gig, Michael is currently putting the finishing touches to the recordings for his second album with his band.
Michael has also recorded a number of sessions for us over the years including this one recorded back in 2014:
